Sona Chambers has over 22 years experience in nonprofit management, government relations, corporate cause marketing, and donor cultivation. She has managed the marketing, public relations and development efforts for the following: a Hollywood celebrity's statewide adolescent reproductive health non-profit; an International corporate foundation; a national conservation foundation, with board participation at the $100K level each; a federal government environmental public information center; a national health association; a local national youth social service agency; and two Emmy Award-winning programs for the largest public television station in the country. Ms. Chambers was also responsible for managing the staff, volunteers, and budgets that ranged from $.5M to $8.5M of each of these organizations

Ms. Chambers has a master’s degree in Environmental Science from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Appalachian State University. She has served in the following capacity: as a policy fellow to the East-West Center Program on the Environment in Hawaii; as a policy intern at the Rutgers University Center for American Woman and Politics in New Jersey; and as an art curator intern at the Douglas College Women and Arts Series in New Jersey. Ms. Chambers has taught graduate level classes as a guest lecturer at the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, in New Jersey, Appalachian State University Women’s Studies Department in North Carolina, and Kennesaw State University’s nonprofit studies department in Georgia. Ms Chambers has also served as a subject matter expert to the US Environmental Protection Agency, US Army and the US Navy on environmental issues

She has served as the event director and provided the strategy for numerous non-profit fundraising events in New York City, Atlanta, Georgia, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Dallas, Texas, Honolulu, Hawaii, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has secured many pro-bono celebrity talents for specific causes at these events including, President Jimmy Carter, Bruce Willis, Jane Fonda, Ted Turner, Ludacris, Tommy Lee, Vivica A. Fox, Peter Fonda, Bridget Fonda, Troy Garity, Lyle Lovett, Travis Tritt, Martina Navratilova, Sally Field, Rosie O’Donnell, Lily Tomlin, Big Boi, Dallas Austin, Hootie and the Blowfish, b52s, Charles Barkley, Cee Lo, Bonnie Raitt, and Benicio del Toro. These events have netted $350K to $2.1M.

Ms. Chambers has devised numerous cause marketing campaigns with a variety of large corporations including, Wal-Mart, Burger King, IKEA, David Yurman, Orvis, Tesoro, Tootsies, and Cartoon Network. For 21 years, Ms. Chambers has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and served on the board of directors of numerous non-profits including Girls, Inc., Oglethorpe University Art Museum, and the House of Lynn Cancer Support Center.

She has also served as the general contractor in her spare time on a high performance green energy home in 2002, complete with geothermal, photovoltaic solar, drought tolerant landscaping, rain harvest and greywater systems. This home has been featured on CNN, HGTV’s What You Get for the Money, Professional Builder Magazine, and Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine.
